U19 Fixtures: New Season

U19 Fixtures Announced: Limerick Face Trip To Cobh On Opening Day

Limerick will return to the scene of their Southern Elite Division title success when they face Cobh Ramblers on the opening day of Section One in the new-look Under-19 National League. The fixtures were announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Along with Cobh, the young Shannonsiders will face Bray Wanderers, Cork City, Waterford United, Wexford Youths and UCD in a 12-game season, which gets underway on the weekend of 23 August. The short season will see through the transition to a summer schedule in 2016.

Last term, Limerick won the Southern Elite Division thanks to a nine-game unbeaten run after the Christmas break, winning eight of those to dramatically pip Waterford to the league title with a 1-0 win at Saint Colman’s Park in late March.

They went on to defeat Shelbourne in the quarter-finals before exiting to eventual winners Saint Patrick’s Athletic in the last four. Now, in what is a short season which will run until December, the league is split into three divisions.

The league series finishes in November; the Knockout Phase follows with the quarter-finals at the end of that month. The semi-finals are down for decision on the weekend of 6 December, with the decider coming a week later.
