U15 Premier Division: Granville Rangers 0-3 Limerick
Limerick maintained their 100 percent record in the U15 Premier Division with a 3-0 win over Granville Rangers at Glenbrook on Monday night.
Both teams started well and possession was shared in the early exchanges.
Dave Sweeney threatened early on with a header and then a shot, and Limerick soon began to find some rhythm, putting together some fine passing moves.
Past the quarter-hour mark, following a well-worked corner, Dion Lynch fired a warning shot, and with Limerick well in control the Granville goal was coming under increasing pressure.
The home ‘keeper was having a superb game, saving from Cormac Kinahan and twice more from the in-form Sweeney, who eventually broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with a well-deserved goal.
It remained 1-0 until half-time, but 30 seconds after the break Sweeney doubled his tally.
That appeared to settle any nerves that may have been in the young Superblues side and they moved up a gear, with their passing game impressive. Adam Lyons was unlucky not to add a third.
But it was 3-0 when Lynch won possession and turned to face the Granville goal and, spotting the ‘keeper off his line, the youngster fired a shot over him from some 25-yards.
Limerick brought on three substitutes that seamlessly slotted into the game, showing the strength in depth that John Grehan’s squad possesses.
