Champions Dundalk scored three times in six late minutes as they came from behind to end Limerick’s seven-match unbeaten run and put one hand on the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division trophy, at the Markets Field on Saturday night.
Limerick had a dream start when Dean Clarke finished from close range after a corner was knocked on, and it was a lead that they held until the 76th minute when Richie Towell equalised.
Towell then put Dundalk in front – who had only been beaten on the road by BATE Borisov in the UEFA Champions League this season – as his strike deflected off captain Shane Duggan which wrong-footed ‘keeper Freddy Hall.
Substitute Ciarán Kilduff then made sure of the victory with a cool finish on 82 minutes.
