Irish Schools: McSweeney Plays Part In Win Over Athlone

Limerick FC forward Seán McSweeney set up one after coming off the bench as the Irish Schools Under-18s defeated Athlone Town Under-19s 4-0 in a friendly on Monday.

The 17-year-old only received the call-up at the weekend for Paddy O’Reilly’s squad and he was brought on at half-time in the midlands.

McSweeney – who scored one and assisted another in his last outing for the team last month – again played a part in a goal, creating one in a comfortable victory, where he enjoyed plenty of possession.

The former Shannonside youngster – who was a standout performer in Limerick’s draw at Cork City in the Under-19 Southern Elite Division on Sunday – remains with the Schools squad for Tuesday’s test against Athlone IT.
