Première of 'Til I Die, documentary film on Limerick FC

Limerick FC would like to invite you to attend a viewing of a documentary film on Limerick Football Club. The film 'Til I Die was made by students from LIT and highlights the history of senior soccer in Limerick, the passion of the volunteers and fans and in particular the tradition of the Markets Field, the spiritual home of Limerick Senior Soccer.

The main objective of the evening is to highlight the desire of the Club to return to the Markets Field. For this to happen the Club needs as much support as possible from everyone in Limerick. There is a major initiative led by the FAI and a number of other parties to deliver a Municipal Stadium on the site of the Markets Field. Such a development would provide a home for Limerick FC as well as other sporting codes, facilities for Limerick College of Further Education and most importantly a facility for the Garryowen community. The FAI will give a brief overview of the vision for the Markets Field at this meeting.

Limerick City deserves a Premier Soccer Club – the talent is undoubtedly here and the vast majority of the senior squad are from Limerick. The Club has acquired a training base at Knockalisheen, which has the potential to generate income as well as save on costs and above all develop a strong Club structure with an emphasis on youth development.

Central to the survival of the Club is to have a modern all-seated stadium in the heart of Limerick City. The Markets Field has a history and tradition associated with sport in the city and not just soccer (in the past it hosted Munster GAA finals). It is in a prime city centre location. The city needs a Municipal stadium of 6,000 seats which would be designed to maximise usage and be very much part of the local community.

The Club looks forward to seeing you in the Strand Hotel next Monday at 9:30pm.
