Limerick FC unveils new sponsors for 2009 Season

9th March 2009

Limerick FC is delighted to announce that the Limerick Independent newspaper is to be the new title sponsor of the club for the 2009 League of Ireland Season. The Limerick Independent will be supported by a team of associate sponsors, namely The Strand Hotel Limerick, Spin South West, Yanjing Beer and AutoXchange. The sponsorship was officially launched at the Strand Hotel by Mayor of Limerick, Cllr John Gilligan and was attended by club caretaker managers Paul O’Donnell and Mick Sheil and a number of squad members.

Confirming the sponsorship deals, Jack McCarthy, Chairman of Limerick FC, said:

“Corporate Sponsorship is of vital importance to the success of Limerick FC and the support shown through the assembly of a group of well known brands as corporate supporters offers a great endorsement to what the club are trying to achieve. I would like to particularly thank Declan Moylan of the Limerick Independent for coming on board as title sponsor and showing so much faith in our plans to develop the club as an integral part of the community.”

Declan Moylan, MD, Limerick Independent, welcomed the opportunity to come on board as new club title sponsor, saying:

“We are delighted to be able to come on board and support such a strong local sporting cause as Limerick FC. Limerick FC has always played a very important part in the Sporting Limerick community so this sponsorship is a natural association for the Limerick Independent given our strong community focus and loyal local readership. Limerick FC has an extremely talented local squad which will no doubt be pushing for promotion this season and the Limerick Independent is delighted to play its part in supporting the aim of promotion to the Premier Division.”

Limerick FC wishes to also confirm that caretaker managers Paul O’Donnell and Mick Sheil will continue to carry out their roles until the 25th March at which time the club hopes to be in a position to announce a new manager. The interview process will be headed up by club chairman Jack McCarthy over the next 10 days.
