Jason gets Ireland Call Up

Congratulations to Jason Hughes on his call up to the Irish U18 squad who are touring France. The seventeen year old celebrated his call up this week with his first senior goal in a Limerick shirt against Waterford Utd and he is one of only six Irish based players in the squad. The Republic of Ireland will participate in the Limoges four-nation friendly tournament in France from October 26-November 2. Irish manager Sean McCaffrey named his squad of 18 players and includes seven members of last season’s Under-17 squad which featured at the UEFA Championship finals in Turkey.

There is no UEFA competitive football at Under-18 level but McCaffrey will use these three matches to assess the talent ahead of next season’s Under-19 UEFA Championship campaign which gets underway next Autumn. The Republic of Ireland will play their first game on Tuesday, October 28 against Serbia (4pm, local time) before meeting host nation France on Thursday, October 30 (7pm, local time).

Ireland complete the tournament by facing Denmark on Saturday, November 1 (3pm, local time). Best of luck from all Super Blues fans to Jason.
