Limerick FC  3 - 1  Tralee Dynamos

Sunday 18th July 2010

Limerick FC were slightly flattered by the 3-1 scoreline, but worked hard to contain a strong second half rally by Tralee Dynamos.

Limerick FC had the better of the first half and after 15 minutes a shot by Andrew Bhandarker beat the keeper but lacked pace and was cleared off the line. However Limerick FC did not have to wait for long to open their account. After 20 minutes Lee O'Mara headed on to Garbhan Coughlan whose defence-splitting pass found Kevin Barry who made no mistake in finding the net. Shortly after Kevin Barry put in a cross from the by-line for Lee O'Mara to head powerfully back across the goal and inside the far post. Limerick dominated the remainder of the half but found the Tralee keeper, Robert Birdsall, in terrific form as he saved well from Kevin Barry and from Garbhan Coughlan.

Tralee came out in the second half determined to get back into the game and put Limerick under immediate pressure. Brian Murphy scored for Dynamos and shortly after Stephen McNamara in the Limerick goal made a great save from a free kick. Brian Murphy was causing Limerick all sorts of problems and saw a powerful drive come back off the up right. However Limerick FC regained control with James O'Brien and Philip Lavin regrouping at center back and Andrew Bhandarkar coming more into it in midfield. Kevin Barry was always a threat up front. With five minutes left, man of the match, Lee O'Mara secured the win for Limerick when he powered in his second header from a corner.
