Sporting Fingal  1 - 0  Limerick 37

Doyle 2(pen)

Friday 21st March 2008

Eircom League new boys Sporting Fingal secured their second win of the season courtesy of a hard fought victory over LimerickĀ at the Morton Stadium.

Robbie Doyle's early penalty after Lims keeper Dave Ryan was penalised for fouling Peter Hynes secured the points for the Dubliners.

Defences dominated the first half, but Sporting keeper Steve Williams had to be at his best to keep out a powerful Paul Danagher header from a Brendan Daly corner.

Williams was again called into action after the break, pulling of a brilliant save to deny Darren Harrington's goalbound drive.

At the other end Ryan got down smartly to deny Hynes. Dave Ryan almost salvaged a point late on for Limerick, who dominated possession after the break – but his header drifted wide.

Limerick can count themselves unlucky as they were by far the better team for long periods.
