Speaking regarding the importance of the event for the club, Jack McCarthy, Owner, Limerick FC said, "The fundraising evening is a key part of our strategy to develop a sound and sustainable financial and operating structure for the club. The future viability of the club is based on the support of the local business community and to this extent we can only but thank our existing sponsors such as Limerick’s Live 95FM, Limerick Marriott, Continental Airlines, Tony Connolly Menswear who have rowed in behind our cause. I would like to also thank the FAI for their ongoing assistance and particularly for allowing us to bring a managerial legend such as Giovanni Trapattoni to the people of Limerick. This gala evening with the current Ireland Manager offers us a double opportunity to not only raise the much needed funds to bring the club to the next level but to showcase the potential of Limerick FC to a captive business audience. We are extremely hopeful that as many local businesses as possible will get behind the event and look forward to welcoming Giovanni Trapattoni to Limerick on October 16th."
FAI Technical Director, Packie Bonner, speaking on behalf of Giovanni Trapattoni, said, "The FAI and Giovanni Trapattoni are looking forward to coming to sports mad Limerick on October 16th and are delighted to help the future development of senior soccer in Limerick through this event. The Irish International team has a long history and association with Limerick both through Eoin Hand as manager and also through numerous training camps which were held in the University of Limerick over the years. A strong senior soccer setup in Limerick is a priority for the FAI and I’d like to compliment Jack McCarthy and his team for what they are trying to achieve with the club."
